The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly to slam the United Nations for its criticism of Israel and Israel’s settlements in the West Bank.

According to Fox News, lawmakers voted 342-80 to support Israel against the recent Security Council resolution.

The Washington Post explained that the vote was bipartisan, while The Wall Street Journal reported that 100 Democrats backed the measure.

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan angrily rebuked President Barack Obama for his support of a two-state solution to the conflict between Israel and Palestine.

“Do not be fooled,” Ryan said. “This U.N. Security Council resolution … was about one thing and one thing only: Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish, democratic state.”

“These types of one-sided efforts are designed to isolate and de-legitimize Israel. They do not advance peace, they make it more elusive,” he continued.

While the Obama administration had yet to respond to the vote, as of early Friday, one thing was clear: Republicans and Democrats did not support the president in his endeavors to trash the allies of the United States.

Secretary of State John Kerry was also rebuked for his speech in which he said Israel must cease its construction of settlements in the West Bank. Israeli leaders and European leaders such as British Prime Minister Theresa May had previously spoken out against Kerry’s comments.

After this new vote, Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, thanked the U.S. House.

He said the country had “proved once again that the U.S.-Israel alliance is based not only on shared interests, but also on shared values … This special relationship has endured the test of time and I have no doubt that it will continue to be strengthened in the future.”
