In an attempt to discredit and delegitimize President Donald Trump, liberal media outlets have been incessantly attacking him, his team and their policies, but recent polls have shown that their anti-Trump actions are apparently backfiring.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Feb. 16 showed that 55 percent of “likely U.S. voters” approved of the president’s job performance.
What’s even more impressive is that the president’s approval numbers in this poll were not negatively affected by the Feb. 13 resignation of Michael Flynn as Trump’s national security adviser. In fact, Trump’s numbers actually went up three percentage points since Flynn’s retreat.
While many Americans simply approve of how Trump has handled our country’s affairs during his first month as commander in chief, another contributing factor to his positive approval numbers has likely been the public’s distrust of the media.
In fact, 48 percent of those polled said they believed most reporters were “biased against the president.” That, compared with the fact that only 12 percent believed that news reporters were biased in Trump’s favor, showed that the media’s incessant attacks on the president could have actually been helping him, instead of their likely-intended result.
And it wasn’t just the media who were distrusted by the public, as 47 percent of the poll’s participants believed that the country’s intelligence agencies had their “own political agenda.”
Also in Trump’s favor was the fact that a majority of those polled agreed with the idea behind his temporary immigration ban on people from certain high-risk countries.
A Rasmussen Reports survey of 1,000 “likely voters” conducted on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 found that 52 percent favored a temporary ban on refugee acceptance until there is a better system in place to keep out individuals who are terrorist threats.
The truth is that Trump has been doing what millions of Americans elected him to do — put America back on the path to prosperity, success and security.
His approval numbers, despite the liberal media’s attempt to bring him down, reflect that he and his team have gotten off to a good start.
