Tom Hanks sent a brand new espresso machine to the White House press corps with the exhortation to “keep up the good fight for truth.”

Multiple reporters expressed their appreciation to the Academy Award winning actor for his kind gesture.

Along with the new coffee machine was a note which read, “To the White House Press Corps: Keep up the good fight for Truth, Justice, and the American Way. Especially for the Truth part.”

The current machine replaces one Hanks gifted the press corps in 2010 during the Obama administration, which replaced one he gave them in 2004, while President George W. Bush was in office.

The actor noticed during a visit to the White House in ’04 that the reporters were getting their java from a traditional coffee maker.

“I hope this machine will make the 24 hour cycle of news a bit more pleasant,” he wrote in a note to the corps at the time. “Add water, insert pod, press button and report. All good things. Tom Hanks.”

Hanks’ note this time included a World War II era cartoon captioned, “Fresh, spirited American troops, flushed with victory, are bringing in thousands of hungry, ragged, battle-weary prisoners.”

Hanks supported Hillary Clinton in last year’s presidential race, but took a different tack than many Hollywood stars following Donald Trump’s victory.

“We’re going to be alright,” Hanks said. “This is the United States of America. We’ll go on. There’s great like-minded people out there who are Americans first and Republicans or Democrats second.”

He added, “I hope the president-elect does such a great job that I vote for his re-election in four years.”
