The U.S. State Department has just issued a major warning to travelers that every American needs to see.
Fox News reported that the government has warned college students all over the country to not travel to certain parts of Mexico for spring break, as crime has completely gotten out of control there.
“U.S. citizens have been the victims of violent crimes, including homicide, kidnapping, carjacking and robbery in various Mexican States,” the State department travel warning stated.
The warning specifically mentions 14 of Mexico’s 31 states as places Americans should not travel. These states include the popular spring break destinations of Baja California Sur, Guerrero and Nayarit.
“The state of Guerrero was the most violent state in Mexico in 2015 for the third year in a row, and self-defense groups operate independently of the government in many areas of Guerrero,” the warning said. “Armed members of these groups frequently maintain roadblocks and, although not considered hostile to foreigners or tourists, are suspicious of outsiders and should be considered volatile and unpredictable.”
This comes as millions of college students are finishing their midterm exams and preparing to jet off to party destinations all over the globe. Many of them plan to travel to Mexico, which is arguably the top spring break destination for American youths.
