Legendary country music artist Charlie Daniels penned an open letter to anti- Donald Trump obstructionist Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Wednesday and his straightforward, no-nonsense critique is likely what many of us have only dreamed we could say to ol’ Chuck.
“Sen. Schumer, I don’t live in your constituency, but in the larger picture, you live in mine and every other legal, taxpaying American citizen who is affected by the power you hold in your political party, your blind allegiance to it and the obstructionist posture to anything that doesn’t directly benefit it,” Daniels opened in the scathing letter posted to CNS News.
“There’s something sinister about seeing you bent over the lectern in the Senate Chamber,” Daniels continued, comparing Schumer to the gloomy poet Edgar Allen Poe, “your countenance resembling what I would imagine Edgar Allen Poe’s would look like … as if there is not one drop of happiness in your life, forecasting a dismal future for America if anything President Trump proposes passes both houses, is signed and becomes law.”
Daniels acknowledged the “disappointment” (some might say hysteria) of Schumer and other Democrats following their loss in the 2016 election, with their “corks halfway out the champagne bottles.”
He accused Schumer of refusing to face the truth of why his candidate lost. “You forgot about the working people; you forgot about the empty factories of the rust belt; you took for granted the high crime, low employment inner cities you’ve made unkept promises to for decades,” Daniels said.
“Instead of looking inward at the real cause for your party’s loss, you had to find a scapegoat, and if it hadn’t been Russia, it would have been something else,” Daniels continued.
Isn’t that the truth. Democrats have blamed Hillary Clinton’s loss on Russia, James Comey, WikiLeaks and pretty much anything else in the world besides their atrocious candidate.
Daniels then cut to the chase of the Russian collusion allegations and bluntly asked: “Will you lay your hand on a Holy Bible and tell America that you believe in your heart that Donald Trump has actually colluded with Vladimir Putin and the Russian government to the detriment of the United States of America?”
Presuming that neither Schumer nor any other Democrat would be willing to do so, Daniels said he thinks their allegations are being baseless and partisan.
“I believe that anything your special counsel will come up with will also be superficial, guilt by association, the fires of triviality fanned and proliferated by a tilted, hate-filled media and super partisan politicians,” he said.
Daniels reminded Schumer of the old adage — “what goes around comes around” — and cautioned him to be wary of what may be found if a truly independent special counsel starts digging around in the dirt of Washington D.C. And boy, is there dirt.
While there is virtually no evidence proving criminal activities by Trump, countless Democrats have questionable or downright illegal activities in their past, including Hillary Clinton and former IRS official Lois Lerner.
“You have opened Pandora’s Box, sir, and basically thrown away the lid,” wrote Daniels. “Now it’s time to chop the log and let the chips fall where they will.
“You see, sir, Pandora is neither a Democrat nor a Republican, and what is revealed in the coming months could well be a two-edged sword,” warned Daniels. “Be careful what you wish for.”
This is why so many conservatives love Charlie Daniels. He’s unafraid to speak truth to power and stand up for the American people against arrogant politicians like Schumer. Let’s hope this open letter won’t be his last.
