Barack Obama arrived in Scotland on Friday to address business leaders and participate in a Q&A. As soon as he got there, however, he dropped everything to play a round of golf in St Andrews.
Daily Mail reported that Obama was often accused accused of being obsessed with golf during his presidency, playing 306 rounds during his eight years in office. As he played in Scotland, his caddy was heard telling him there’s “no pressure, sir” before teeing off the third.
“Well, going by those shots I shouldn’t feel any pressure,” Obama replied.
“Oh, that wasn’t so pretty,” Obama continued after his shot.
Obama is in Scotland to speak at a dinner organized by The Hunter Foundation, set up by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Tom Hunter.
Tickets for the event cost $5,000 a head, and proceeds will be split between children’s charities in Scotland and the Obama Foundation, set up by the Democrat and his wife Michelle.
Entertainers at the event include singer Annie Lennox, rock band Texas and comedian Kevin Bridge.
“From the south side of Chicago to the White House has been an epic, historic journey and it will be a true honour to hear that story from the man who made that journey,” Sir Tom said when he announced Obama’s visit. “We are both truly proud and delighted to be hosting the 44th president of the United States in Scotland at this event.”
