Ivanka Trump’s daughter Arabella has become an internet sensation in China after a video of her was posted to social media sending greetings for the Lunar New Year.
In the video, the 5-year-old is featured playing with a traditional Chinese puppet and singing in Mandarin.

Set to the tune of Oh My Darling, Clementine; she sings: “Happy New Year, happy New Year, happy New Year everyone! We’re singing and we’re dancing, happy New Year everyone!”
The video was reposted on China’s state-run Global Times and has since been viewed over 18 million times — less than 24 hours after Trump’s original post.
The mother-daughter duo also made a surprise visit to the Chinese Embassy in Washington to take part in the festivities.
The goodwill messages come at a time when tensions are strained between the United States and China. The president has vowed to crack down on the Asian superpower’s tendency to devalue their currency, and he’s also been critical of China’s military build-up in the South China Sea.
Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue their currency (making it hard for our companies to compete), heavily tax our products going into..

their country (the U.S. doesn't tax them) or to build a massive military complex in the middle of the South China Sea? I don't think so!

On the streets of Shanghai, at least one local believes it it was foolish of the new commander-in-chief to not send his own personal New Year’s greeting.
“A bridge of friendship is needed between China and the U.S.,” said gold salesman Chen Zhijun. Regarding the president’s refusal to send well wishes, he added, it’s “definitely is not helping. Maybe it is because he is new and has too much to deal with.”
Past presidents, such as Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama have sent Lunar New Year messages.
“I’m glad to see his daughter and little granddaughter being friendship messengers … it is a sign of being nice,” Chen said.
